Salesforce to Dynamics 365 Sales migration

The challenge

Following an acquisition, a multinational chemicals company needed to bring the purchased business onto its group CRM. The acquired company ran its sales operation on Salesforce, with years of accumulated customisation, while the group standard was Dynamics 365 Sales. The sales teams needed to land on one platform without losing the processes that made them effective.

What we did

  • Ran a structured gap analysis between the Salesforce environment and the group's Dynamics 365 Sales configuration, mapping every object, process and customisation to its D365 equivalent.
  • Evaluated each existing customisation on its merits — retiring those that duplicated standard D365 capability, and rebuilding the ones that genuinely supported the business.
  • Kept a deliberate out-of-the-box focus, favouring standard Dynamics 365 features over bespoke development to reduce long-term cost and keep the platform upgrade-safe.
  • Planned and executed the migration of sales data from Salesforce into Dynamics 365, with reconciliation at each stage.

The outcome

  • The acquired business fully onboarded onto the group's Dynamics 365 Sales platform.
  • A leaner, standards-based configuration that the group's own team can support and evolve.
  • Customisation retained only where it added real business value — nothing carried across by habit.

Digitising paper forms and manual workflows

The challenge

The business ran a number of core processes on paper forms that were completed by hand, passed between departments and re-keyed into other systems. The same information was entered more than once, documents took days to reach the people who needed them, and near-identical copies of the same file ended up in different document libraries.

What we did

  • Carried out process analysis directly with the end users, walking through each form and workflow as it actually happened rather than as it was documented.
  • Rebuilt the paper forms as digital forms in SharePoint Online and Power Apps, capturing the data once at source with validation built in.
  • Automated the hand-offs between departments using Power Automate workflows, so submissions are routed, approved and actioned without anyone chasing paperwork.
  • Used SharePoint's built-in version history as the single record of each document, in place of duplicate files with minor changes scattered across separate libraries.

The outcome

  • Manual data entry and duplicate data significantly reduced.
  • The time lag between departments receiving documentation cut from days to minutes.
  • One authoritative copy of every document, with a full change history, using standard Microsoft 365 functionality — nothing bespoke to maintain.

Lotus Notes decommissioning: Power Platform proof of concept

The challenge

A chemical manufacturer was still running a range of business applications on Lotus Notes — from simple document stores and databases to complex custom-built solutions. The company wanted to decommission Notes and move to the Microsoft Power Platform, but needed confidence that the platform could genuinely replace what they had before committing to a full migration programme.

What we did

  • Documented the existing Lotus Notes solutions — what each one did, who used it and how business-critical it was.
  • Identified an out-of-the-box replacement for every solution where one existed: SharePoint document libraries for simple document management systems, SharePoint Lists for simple databases, and so on — keeping custom development to a minimum.
  • Built a proof-of-concept Power App to demonstrate that the more complex, custom functionality within Lotus Notes could be reproduced on the Power Platform.

The outcome

  • A clear inventory of the Notes estate, with a recommended Power Platform replacement for each solution.
  • Working proof that the complex custom functionality could be delivered in Power Apps, removing the biggest unknown from the decommissioning decision.
  • A route to retiring Lotus Notes that leans on standard Microsoft 365 features first and bespoke development only where it's needed.

Modernising IT for a volunteer-run football club

The challenge

The club is run entirely by volunteers, and too much of their time was going on administration: chasing subscription payments, passing documents around by email, and answering the same questions from parents. The committee wanted modern systems that would cut the overhead — without needing an IT specialist to keep them running.

What we did

  • Implemented a new membership system that automates the collection of subscription payments, removing the need to chase members and reconcile payments by hand.
  • Set up SharePoint Online for the committee and trained members to use it, so documents are shared from one place rather than circulated by email.
  • Set up Exchange Online with shared mailboxes for key roles — treasurer, welfare and administration — so enquiries reach the right people and nothing is lost when a volunteer moves on.
  • Built a WordPress site for sharing documents and information with parents.

The outcome

  • Subscription payments collected automatically, freeing volunteer time for running the club.
  • Committee documents in one shared, accessible place, with members confident using it.
  • Role-based mailboxes that survive committee changes and make handovers straightforward.
  • Parents can find what they need on the website instead of asking a volunteer.

Extending Dynamics 365 CRM to power a third-party web solution

The challenge

A financial investment company had a custom-built third-party web solution that needed richer information than their Dynamics 365 CRM held. The CRM had to be extended to capture and validate that data, and expose it in a way the external application could consume reliably — without compromising the integrity of the CRM or making future upgrades harder.

What we did

  • Provided Dynamics 365 consultancy up front to establish what the platform could deliver out of the box, so bespoke work was limited to where it was genuinely needed.
  • Extended the CRM with a mixture of new tables, forms and views, giving users a clean front end for the additional information.
  • Added back-end validation using plugins, so data is enforced at the platform level regardless of where it's entered from.
  • Built Custom APIs in Dynamics 365 that the third-party web solution calls directly, giving it a stable, supported interface into the CRM.

The outcome

  • The third-party web solution now draws on live, validated CRM data through a purpose-built API.
  • Business rules enforced centrally in the CRM rather than duplicated across systems.
  • An extension built on standard Dynamics 365 patterns — tables, plugins and Custom APIs — that remains supportable and upgrade-safe.

Dynamics 365 Sales support and development

The challenge

A pharmaceutical company's sales team were working in Dynamics 365 Sales, but the system was getting in the way rather than helping. Forms were cluttered, data entry was slow and inconsistent, and the team weren't getting the insight from the CRM that they needed. They wanted a partner who would understand the day-to-day pain points and take the system to where they wanted it to be.

What we did

  • Worked directly with the business to understand their current pain points and agree where they wanted to get to with the system, then delivered against that in an ongoing support and development engagement.
  • Optimised the forms for data entry, providing a cleaner and clearer user interface that surfaces what matters and hides what doesn't.
  • Added validation and automation to guide user input, so records are complete and consistent without relying on memory or manual checks.
  • Set up Sales Insights to give the sales team actionable intelligence from the data they were already capturing.

The outcome

  • Faster, more consistent data entry through streamlined forms and guided input.
  • Better-quality CRM data, enforced by validation and automation rather than user discipline.
  • A sales team equipped with Sales Insights, and a system that continues to evolve with the business through ongoing support.
